Dornbirn, lake and mountains
As the region’s largest town, Dornbirn is the economic and business capital of the province of Vorarlberg. A likeable, lively town, it has never quite lost its village atmosphere
The districts of Dornbirn
Dornbirn was never a collection of randomly overlapping villages. Even though its various districts are fairly spread out, it was always a town in its own right, consisting of four fiercely independent sectors. At that time these “Viertel“, or quarters, bore the names Niederdorf, Hatlerdorf, Oberdorf and Stiglingen. It wasn’t until 1902 that the four sectors were oficially recognised as districts of the town, and received their present names, Niederdorf becoming Markt, and Stiglingen becoming Haselstauden.
A district full of history
Our hotel is situated in the Haselstauden sector of Dornbirn.
We thoroughly recommend walking the town trail, which will help you discover the real heart of Haselstauden, including Dornbirn’s oldest church and a number of traditional old Rhine valley houses.
The bustling town centre
Its perfect location on the borders of Austria, Germany, Switzerland and the principality of Liechtenstein has played a leading role in the cultural and scenic diversity of Dornbirn and the surrounding region. Boasting a variety of architectural styles dating back three and a half centuries, Dornbirn’s market square is both a stage set and a popular place to meet.
